The SARS biannual EMP501 submission period has opened and runs until 31 October.

If you wish to attempt the submission yourself, please ensure that you are on the latest version of your payroll software. Do not generate the IRP5 certificates unless you're on the latest software version. The latest version contains important changes to SARS's transaction codes.
If you did the submission before the official opening date, you may incur penalties. This is because the latest software updates in efiling, E@syFile and your payroll systems are only be available from today. If the submission was done before 16 September, we highly recommend re-doing it to avoid penalties.
